Tenby International School in Miri has launched its first Soul Band. Inspired by Glee and other musical projects, talented musicians from Year 5 to Year 8 have teamed up to form the Tenbeats. We play covers of rock and pop songs from across the years and our repertoire is always expanding. Click back soon to hear samples of our work.

TenBeats: New line up for 2012-13
The TenBeats are back!
This year we have a new line up:
Vocals: Emily, Kamilla, Aaryana, Elvira, Tope
Keyboard/Piano: Min Jed, Min Wei, Louis
Guitars: Karl, Matthew
Percussion: Joshua
Woodwind: Miss Chloe
We're being a little more ambitious this year - trying lots of new music, playing from notes instead of chords, singing in harmony and using new music technology equipment. We'll be playing at the School Concert on 7th December 2012 and hopefully putting on our own gig at Piasau Boat Club in the near future. Watch this space for updates!

Stand By Me
We have been working our own version of Ben E King's Stand By Me.
Soloists, Aaryana and Faith sing the first verse and chorus at a free tempo with minimal instrumental accompaniment, then the tempo picks up when the rest of the singers join. We've added a bridge section which is completely new musical material sung by Emily, then back to the original version for the big finale.
We're working on it, and looking forward to posting a recording here soon!

TIS Miri Soul Band: Est 2012
Welcome to the official blog of the original Tenby International School, Miri's Soul Band.
We rehearse in the music room after school on Thursday, bringing together musicians from Year 5 to Year 8; a combination of guitarists, keyboard players, lead singers and backing vocalists (coming soon: drummers and bass players!) and work on rock and pop covers.
Everyone plays an important part and we're looking forward to doing some recording very soon! We'll keep you posted!
